Good national park trips fill up weeks ahead and the great ones go first. Below: the 15 to book early, what each includes and how they differ.
Set out from Ajaccio or Porticcio with a French-speaking guide for a full day along Corsica’s wild western coast. You’ll cruise through Scandola, stop for two hours in sea-access-only Girolata, then see the Gulf of Porto, Calanche de Piana, caves, arches, and Capo Rosso. Bring lunch, swimwear, a hat, and a change of clothes.
Sail from Porto into Scandola Nature Reserve on a hybrid boat, with French commentary, quiet electric cruising inside the reserve, and a 30-minute stop in Girolata. You can swim from the beach, watch for wild cows, and add a longer cruise to the pink granite Calanche de Piana. Priority boarding helps with seating, but weather can change the route.

Spend five hours hiking Marseille’s Calanques National Park with a bilingual guide such as Adrien, Jade, Geoffroy, or Sebastian. Expect steep rocky paths, changing routes, plant and history stories, a shared picnic, panoramic views, and time to swim in a clear cove. Bring sturdy shoes and at least 1.5 liters of water in summer.

Join an English- or French-speaking guide for a 7.51-kilometer hike through pine woods, rosemary, and limestone coves in the Calanques National Park. Guides such as Yana, Freddie, Alex, and Geoffroy lead at a steady pace, explain local plants and history, and serve a picnic before a swim. The Blue Cave is optional and requires a 700-meter round-trip swim.

Spend about seven hours aboard the 1949 wooden schooner Alliance, sailing from Marseille’s Old Port toward Château d’If, Frioul, Riou, and the Calanques. You’ll get coffee, a cold vegetarian buffet, rosé, snorkel gear, and time to swim in sheltered coves. French, English, and Italian are spoken.

Join a small-group, four-hour ride from Pointe Rouge through Château Pastré, Montagne de l’Aigle, Roy d’Espagne, and Calanques National Park. Your guide handles the route and local stories while your electric mountain bike helps on the climbs. Expect rocky trails, steep sections, major viewpoints, and a possible beach stop.

Choose a 33-passenger boat with more shelter or a 10-person semi-rigid boat for a livelier ride. Guides speak French, English, and Italian.

Meet Bruno or another local guide at Luminy for a four-hour hike through Marseille’s Calanques National Park. Expect rocky paths, big coastal views, a swim stop, and a picnic of local foods with a soft drink. Guides speak English, French, Italian, and Spanish. Bring water, sturdy shoes, sunscreen, and swimwear.

Cruise from Marseille’s Old Port toward Château d’If, Frioul, Les Goudes, and the Calanques on a quiet hybrid-electric boat. With up to 12 people, you get snorkeling gear and one or two swimming stops, weather permitting. Captains such as Patrick and Thibault are friendly and engaging, but the exact route can change with wind and sea conditions.

Start at TROLIB Cassis, where your host fits you with an electric mountain bike, helmet, lock, repair kit, and phone holder. After a short briefing, you follow app-based routes through the Calanques, around Cassis, and toward Cap Canaille. You need mountain-bike experience, confidence on gravel, and closed-toe shoes.

Rent a kayak from ExpeNature in La Ciotat for about seven hours and paddle toward the Calanques, Grand Mugel, and Île Verte. You choose your own pace and launch window. Justine may provide the paddle lesson and equipment briefing. The route includes rocky coves, Mediterranean views, and time for swimming or visiting an island restaurant.

She was very lovely and gave us a good demo on how to paddle properly, and equipped us in the appropriate kit. Although we encountered some choppy waters whilst on our way to the calanques, where we got to swim around by lovely beaches. There is a possibility to visit and island with a restaurant which is very fun. We greatly enjoyed the trip. Would highly recommend, especially if the day is sunny!”
